Youth is considered to be the backbone of a country. Their wellbeing and health is of profound important for the social, political, economic development and stability of a country. For this purpose, employability programs aimed at addressing youth and adolescent need to be addressed in a holistic, multidisciplinary way to reflect the varied nature of their lives. GUS being a valuable partner of Skill Development Council (SDC); can provide vocational/technical skill trainings in 128 trades.

GUS in collaboration on self-help basis is implementing a project& established vocational centers in Garhi Habibullah, Siran Valley (Dadar) & UC Lassan Thakral Mansehra to provide technical and market driven training to 160 young male & female to improve their skills. Under the project, efforts will be made to provide skills training to assist them to set up their own business and save them from unemployment. In the year 2018 GUS provided Vocational Training to 620 benefeciaries (M/F) in District Kohistan & Shangla with the Financial support of SRSP.

The programs is designed to provide an opportunity to the youth, so that they can enhance their capabilities. This project aims at imparting vocational and training skills to rural community in 8 different trades including mobile repairing, Professional Cooking, Plumbing, Building & Auto electrician, Beautician, and tailoring to enable them in planning their future livelihood choices. Duration of training will be varied from 90 days training.

Course Objectives:

• To provide trainees well equipped and employable skills training
• To engaged trainees in meaningful work on career development processes and skills

Methodology:

Training material including competency based trainees workbooks and handouts will be shared for need based skills training program. Beneficiaries will be attending 20% theoretical sessions and 80% practical work. Consumable and non-consumable goods will be provided to beneficiaries to earn hands on experience.
